Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Court is in full compliance with ADA provisions.
The main entrance of the court is accessible for persons with disabilities.
There are 28 accessible parking spaces provided in the public parking lot, in
closest proximity to the courthouse.
Accessible restrooms are located on the ground floor, lobby, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th
and 6th floors. Departments 401, 405, 406, 413, 414, 421 and 422 have
wheelchair lifts for wheelchair users.
Accessible public telephones are located on every floor. TTY/TDD
(Telecommunications Device for the deaf) is available at the public phone
located on the first floor. Portable Assistive listening system (ALS) equipment
is available and may be requested from courtroom staff.

Superior Court Clerk's Office
2nd Floor, Room 2700. Children's Court consists of twenty-two courtrooms.
Twenty are dependency calendar/trial courts. Department 413 also hears American
Indian cases and Department 421 hears dependent children adoptions and
independent, agency, stepparent and adult adoptions. Each courtroom is staffed
with a bench officer, judicial assistant/court clerk, courtroom assistant,
court reporter, social worker and a deputy sheriff.
Juvenile Dependency
Court proceedings are strictly confidential. The Clerk's Office maintains all
case files and records including the Juvenile Automated Index (JAI) (Register
of Actions), processes Out of County and Inter County Transfers, handles 388
WIC Petitions, files Detention Petitions, processes Petitions for
Non-Disclosure, Psychotropic Drug Authorizations, Requests for Rehearings,
Applications to File a Writ, Appeals, Terminations of Guardianship, Petitions
for Disclosure and provides support staff for the JADE system.
Adoption Office
The Adoption Office is located on the second floor, Room 2100, of Children's
Court. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The
telephone number is (323) 526-6343.
All adoption matters are confidential in nature. Dependent children,
independent, agency, stepparent and adult adoptions are heard in Department 421
each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday.
