Court Angels is a project initiated in June 1992 by
the LASC which extends the opportunity for Court Volunteer Service to local
area high school students, youth and other individuals in need of a quality
work experience. The program aims to bolster the self-esteem of participants
and provide each participant with an understanding of Court and related career
The focus of this program is to attract local high school students who may be
considered at-risk youth with high potential. Participants are selected based
on recommendations from high school counselors, instructors, as well as
representatives of participating community and professional organizations and
churches throughout the county. Students are paired with a mentor who guides
their volunteer experience with the Court. Some volunteers may receive
compensation from outside sources.
Youth recommended by community organizations are trained in LASC clerical
functions. LASC may provide educational and employment referrals and resources.
