The
monthly salary for a Law Clerk who is a member in good standing of the
California State Bar starts at $5,139.64. The monthly salary for a Law
Clerk who is not a California Bar member starts at $4,916.00. Benefits
include health care, paid sick leave and vacation.
Law Clerks will be employed initially for a six-month
limited term of employment. Upon approval by the Court, the term of employment
may be extended for an additional year. Upon further approval by the Court,
a Law Clerk may be employed for one more year. The total limited-term
employment cannot exceed 30 months. During those two and one-half years
of the clerkship, employment with the Court is “at will.”
Depending on the needs of the Court and after a minimum of two and one-half
years in the Law Clerk position, the best and the brightest clerks may
qualify to be considered for a regular status Research Attorney position.
